Arivu Bharat is an organisation committed to social reforms. Since 2014 it has worked to eradicate untouchable practices in rural India through awareness, dialogue and collective action.
Through its continuous efforts, many homes, temples and public spaces across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have become untouchability-free spaces.
Gruhapravesha, Sahabhojana, Tea for Equality, Temple Entry, Student Oath Programmes and One Village One Water are some of the initiatives transforming society.
Every initiative is a step toward an untouchability-free India.
India is changing. But untouchables have remained untouchables in rural India even in the 21st century. The most common insult to Dalits occurs at the doors of upper caste homes and public temples. Through Gruhapravesha, Arivu Bharat invites Dalit brothers and sisters into upper caste homes, breaking barriers and building human relationships.
Temple Entry secures the rights of Dalits and promotes equal access to places of worship. Through awareness campaigns and government collaboration, many temples across Karnataka have become untouchability-free spaces open to all.
Sahabhojana promotes equality through shared meals. By dining together, communities break centuries of discrimination and strengthen social harmony.
Tea for Equality is a simple yet powerful initiative that encourages interaction between communities and eliminates discrimination through everyday social engagement.
More than 300,000 students have taken the equality oath. Through educational institutions, Arivu Bharat is building a future generation committed to equality, dignity and social justice.
Homes displaying the "Untouchability Free Home" sticker become symbols of equality and inclusion. The campaign inspires families to publicly reject discrimination.

Of late, a social activities centre Arivu (meaning awareness), founded by Dr. Shivappa Arivu, has been working on a novel means of creating awareness against untouchability and making possible entry of Dalits into the houses of upper caste people.
Untouchability is a mental disease. Gruhapravesha team is trying hard to create awareness about untouchable practices by regularly conducting Gruhapravesha, Temple entry, meals in Dalit families, Oaths and other programmes.
Dear Shivappa, I admire your effort to eliminate the slur of untouchability in the young minds, in schools, colleges and public places which no sane society will approve of.
We are with Arivu Bharat. We have issued circulars to all tahasildars to put up boards in front of temples to ensure entry for all including Dalits.
